A Riverview man was arrested after he taunted and brake-checked a 23-year-old Apollo Beach driver on Interstate 75, causing a crash, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Alberto Irizarry Rivera, 55, faces charges of reckless driving causing property damage and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. He was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail.

Video shows driver blowing kisses before crash

The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. Thursday on southbound I-75 near mile marker 254, just south of the U.S. Highway 301 exit in Riverview, according to WFLA. The victim was driving a Hyundai Elantra when Irizarry Rivera, in a Chevrolet pickup, began driving aggressively and erratically through afternoon traffic, FHP said.

Cellphone video captured by the victim shows Irizarry Rivera gesturing and blowing kisses through his open window as he drove alongside the Elantra. He then swerved in front of the smaller car and hit his brakes, causing the Hyundai to rear-end the pickup, WTSP reported.

Irizarry Rivera drove away without stopping or exchanging information, FHP said. The agency did not say whether anyone was injured.

Victim's footage leads troopers to suspect

The victim reported the hit-and-run to troopers and showed them the video. Investigators used the footage to identify the pickup's owner. The truck had rear-end damage consistent with the collision, and the driver's face in the video matched Irizarry Rivera's driver's license photo, according to FHP.

Troopers arrested Irizarry Rivera at his Riverview home shortly after 11 p.m. Thursday. FHP Tampa confirmed the arrest Friday on its official X account, describing it as a road rage incident caught on camera near Riverview.

No court date or bond information for Irizarry Rivera was available. The victim's name has not been released.

Second road rage case at same interchange

A separate road rage incident occurred at the same interchange less than two months earlier. On July 29, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office responded to a confrontation on southbound I-75 near the U.S. 301 exit in which a driver allegedly displayed a handgun at another motorist. Deputies said the suspect then switched his license plate to avoid being identified.

That suspect, Jordan Patascher, 29, was arrested July 31 by the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving while license revoked as a habitual offender, WFLA reported.
