A free concert series at Waterset in Apollo Beach is collecting nonperishable food for families in need ahead of the holidays.
The "Concerts for a Cause" series runs on select Saturdays from 6 to 9 p.m. at The Lakeside, 7250 Parkshore Dr. Waterset listed its first show, featuring Latin music act Stella Beat, for Saturday, Oct. 24; that date has passed. Admission is free and open to the public, according to the Osprey Observer.
Attendees are asked to bring a nonperishable food donation. All items go directly to The Community Cupboard, a local food bank that feeds more than 500 families every week, according to the event organizers. The Community Cupboard partners with Feeding Tampa Bay. Food trucks arrive at 5 p.m. each concert night. The current Waterset schedule also includes a Nov. 21 concert with Greg Roy & The Pressure Band, a date that does not appear in the Osprey Observer's Oct. 24 article.
Organizers note that dates are subject to change due to weather or other circumstances.
The Community Cupboard and Feeding Tampa Bay are asking for specific items: pasta and pasta sauce, one-pound bags of white rice, canned vegetables, canned fruit, canned red or black beans, mac and cheese, and packaged cookies. Residents can find more information at watersetfl.com/concert/ or by calling 813-235-0154. Waterset's current schedule lists these remaining dates:
- Saturday, Nov. 7: 501 Band (blues, funk and jazz)
- Saturday, Nov. 14: Summer Breeze (yacht rock and classic soft rock)
- Saturday, Nov. 21: Greg Roy & The Pressure Band (reggae; listed on watersetfl.com only)
