Every pre-K through eighth-grade student in Hillsborough County Public Schools can take a standards-aligned field trip during the 2026-27 school year at no cost to families or schools.

The district announced the program Sept. 18, crediting the voter-approved millage referendum for the funding. The trips are tied to classroom curriculum.

Which Apollo Beach and Ruskin schools qualify

In Apollo Beach, eligible schools include Dorothy C. York PK-8 Magnet School and SLAM Academy at Apollo Beach. In Ruskin, Ruskin Elementary School and Shields Middle School fall within the program's grade range.

District staff explain the field trips

Lennard High School posted the announcement on its website Sept. 10, confirming Lennard-area feeder schools are included. Shana Tirado and Jessica Kepa of the district's Academic Services team explained the initiative in a podcast episode published that day on the district's site.
