A former Hillsborough County substitute teacher faces five years in prison after pleading guilty to 12 felony charges tied to child sexual abuse material and explicit images shown to students.
Anthony Jenkins, 39, entered his plea Sept. 14 in Hillsborough County Circuit Court, according to 10 Tampa Bay. Jenkins worked as a substitute 10th-grade teacher at Armwood High School in Seffner during March and April 2025, in the same district that serves Lennard High School in Ruskin and East Bay High School in Gibsonton.
Sheriff's Office Investigation Led to Arrest
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Jenkins in July 2025 after deputies said he showed videos and pictures of himself engaged in sexual acts to four former students. A search warrant on his phone turned up additional child sexual abuse material and bestiality images, according to 10 Tampa Bay.
District Hired Jenkins in 2023
The district hired Jenkins in August 2023 and suspended him in April 2025. He was no longer employed when he was arrested.
Plea Deal Includes Prison, Probation Terms
Jenkins told the judge he understood the charges and was pleading guilty voluntarily. His sentence includes 10 consecutive years of sex-offender probation after prison, mandatory mental health and substance abuse evaluations, and a ban on renewing his teaching certificate.
No sentencing date has been announced.
