A Target store could be coming to Apollo Beach as part of the LC Promenade development near Big Bend Road and Interstate 75.

Newly filed construction plans show the proposed 149,006-square-foot store would sit on roughly 12.5 acres and include 597 parking spaces, 18 Drive Up pickup spots and 16 cart corrals, according to the Osprey Observer, which reported the filing Friday, Aug. 21. The plans are under Hillsborough County review.

The LC Promenade site occupies a 137-acre parcel on the south side of Big Bend Road between Covington Gardens Drive and I-75. The land was first zoned for commercial use in 1986, and developer Lifestyle Communities Ltd. has a pending minor modification application, PRS 26-0962. County staff requested at the July 21 Board of County Commissioners Land Use meeting that the item be continued to the Sept. 22 meeting.

Target would join a larger mixed-use project on the site that also includes a proposed Costco warehouse, though Costco has not publicly confirmed the location. The Southshore Circle newsletter noted in July that a permit filing is only the beginning of a long approval process, involving site-plan review, infrastructure improvements and a formal tenant commitment before construction can begin.

Swig projected for Waterset’s Phase 2

Swig is projected for The Yard at Waterset in Apollo Beach. The drive-thru beverage chain, known for customizable “dirty sodas,” is expected to open as part of the development’s second phase, targeted for delivery in late 2026.

The Waterset community’s own January 2026 outlook also projected Swig for Phase 2, alongside Foxtail Coffee. The Greyson sports bar was described as making progress in Phase 1.

Publix already open in Ruskin

Publix opened its new Wolf Creek Commons store Aug. 13 at 3050 19th Ave. NE in Ruskin. The 50,325-square-foot supermarket includes a pharmacy with a drive-thru and anchors the Wolf Creek Commons retail center.

The county has not set a public deadline for completing its review of Target’s LC Promenade plans.
